Pressured to have children? How to deal?

Parenthood brings with it many joys and blessings, from a child's first steps, their first babbled words and other monumental achievements that have parents bursting with pride. However, if you and your spouse are resolved not to have children, it can be difficult to explain your decision to well-meaning friends and family members who are awaiting the pitter-patter of tiny feet and are already searching the shops for bootie patterns. How should you respond when you are pressured to have children?
