wellness and covid-19

Over a year ago, the world was going on, oblivious of what was about to hit it.

We were going to birthday parties, weddings, Friday nights out, and places of worship, not knowing that those were the last times that we would be in the same room with our friends and family.

Furthermore, we had to get accustomed to the new normal of wearing face masks in public and buying gallons of hand sanitizer.

Well, the pandemic is a situation that keeps on giving.

Covid-19 turned our schedules upside-down, introducing us to the concept of working from home, which meant staying home 24/7.

Staying home without interacting with other people can affect our lives, such as sleep schedule, weight management, mental health issues, and our beliefs.

Practicing wellness has been the light at the end of the tunnel for society.

Importance of physical wellness in covid-19

Creating an exercise routine and sticking to it is killing two birds with one stone.

Exercise will help maintain a healthy weight, and it also releases endorphins that will alleviate the stress and anxiety of Covid-19.

A healthy diet is good for us both physically and mentally during these challenging times.

How does social wellness help in covid-19?

Even though we can’t physically meet our friends and some family members for fear of infection, we can still talk and share our highlights and pitfalls online and through phone calls and text messages.

Human beings are creative creatures. This is evident by virtual gender reveal parties, drive-by birthday parties, virtual graduations, and game nights.

Some might even say that society is more in sync than pre-pandemic times, as we keep coming up with ideas to connect.

Importance of wellness to mental health

The pandemic has made most of us have more time on our hands.

We can finally catch up on social media; this means unlimited screen time.

Unlimited screen-time has its repercussions.

Social media has set unattainable standards regarding the ideal body, ideal home, ideal relationships, and picture-perfect lives.

This has led to an increase in eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.

Emotional wellness helps us in affirming self-esteem by believing in ourselves.

Spiritual wellness is essential when we unplug from all technology and connect with our inner selves.

Practicing Yoga and meditation is an excellent way to find inner peace and differentiate between what is real and what is fake.

Belonging to a group of people that share the same principles and beliefs is another way of going through the pandemic.

Just knowing that we are not alone has a more significant impact than we could never imagine.

Importance of financial wellness during the pandemic

For many companies, especially hospitality, travel, and food industries, they had to let workers go just to stay afloat.

Loss of work and financial security became the main problem.

Financial wellness plays a massive role as people learn to think outside the box, such as working online, budgeting, and coming up with multiple income streams to achieve financial stability.
