Anusara is derived from a verse in Kularnava Tantra that means “flowing with grace,” “following your heart,” or “moving with the flow.” The verse is written in Sanskrit as “shakti-nipata-anusarena sishyo’anugraham-arhati,” which means that a true seeker is made worthy and enclosed in the grace that nurtures and sustains their every action by walking into the stream of the divine grace’s descent into ones heart.

Anusara yoga was established in 1997 and is now one of the most well-known and rapidly rising yoga styles in the world, with over 2,000 affiliated instructors and a hundred thousand students worldwide. Anusara yoga classes are now available in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Europe, and are expanding in many other parts of the world.

Anusara yoga has also received international media attention, including a cover storey in the Yoga Journal in 2004, as well as coverage in magazines and newspapers in the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America. Its extraordinary popularity is largely due to its uplifting ideology, symbolised by a “celebration of the heart,” which seeks the good in everyone and all.

As a result, students at all levels of skill and experience in yoga are recognised for their individual differences, strengths, and shortcomings. This life-affirming vision establishes the basis for a yoga system that celebrates the joy and peace of a closely knit community. Anusara yoga is not only regarded as an elegant method of alignment principles and non-dual theory, but it is also a superb community of highly qualified yoga instructors and energetic students. The collective experiences the tightness of family ties as well as the looseness of a relaxed group of bohemian musicians.

It is well systemized and structured as a yoga culture, but it also places a strong focus on individuality and creative freedom. Anusara yoga is united by everyone’s understanding of the spiritual values of Anusara philosophy, such as praising beauty in all its forms, upholding Divine artistic freedom in all beings, and being honest.
