Workplace Wellness

According to Pfizer, Wellness is an act of practicing healthy habits daily to attain better mental and physical health outcomes so that instead of surviving, you are thriving.

Covid-19 seems as though it will be endemic; it will be with us for some time to come, and in most areas, it means that restrictions are still in place, with employees working from home or having to take extra precautions if they work in roles that cannot be done remotely.

So attempting to adjust to a new normal is something that all workplaces globally will have to work through months after working from home for a while. To maintain wellness at the workplace, as an employer, your office will need to utilize several new strategies put in place when at the workplace. These strategies encourage positive mental health awareness and stress generated from this unusual pandemic.

Employee well-being

Returning to work under new standards means that new rules and regulations will come in the workplace courtesy of Covid-19. Having an appreciation of employees’ personal well-being will boost their mental health and well-being. Accommodate those who may be more vulnerable to the virus or live with families with a conceded immune system.

Offer your employees a healthy, clean, and sanitized working environment so that they can feel comfy and motivated to come to work and do their jobs to perfection. From providing them with hand sanitizers to spacing out their working spaces, you can do to give them support for their well-being.

Employee inclusion

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, you should recognize the need to give your staff members a voice in the years ahead. Heartening their opinion and voice on projects and changes gives them a sense of regularity and the idea of being important. With so many unemployed during the tough months of the pandemic, having that sense of need and importance will inspire positive mental health.

Lessening tension in the workplace

Sanitizing the office and employee work areas will not be enough to maintain wellness. The environment that they are working in must also not be toxic socially. And because employees have different opinions regarding covid-19, an intellect of bullying and workplace hostility can start to create when it is not adequately toned down.

Make resources accessible

During this time, your employees might need to reach out to someone beyond home or the office for assistance. To fully offer a surrounding that supports health and wellness in the workplace, you should consider introducing counseling for your employees—having that additional outlet to pour out their feelings and stress that they may be encountering regularly and help them find the solution. This shows that you do care about their mental wellness.

Once in a while, promote workplace wellness by inviting guest speakers who can talk to your employees and motivate those whose morale maybe be a bit lower than before corona. These motivational speakers can empower your employees and get them excited and enjoy doing their jobs again.

Offer employees representation

Every organization returning to work amid covid-19 has already created a wellness or pandemic committee. This committee will be responsible for staying ahead of the news regarding the pandemic. And to maintain your employees’ well-being, it is essential to have them represented equally on this committee.
